The NAACP Legal Defense Fund just sent an e-mail to let people know that the documentary film The Trials of Darryl Hunt will premiere on HBO tonight at 8:00 p.m., EDT; 7:00 p.m., CDT.
PREMIERES TONIGHT!THURSDAY, APRIL 26 AT 8PM ON HBOTHE TRIALS OF DARRYL HUNT, an official selection of the 2006 Sundance Film Festival and 2007 Independent Spirit Award nominee, documents the 20-year aftermath of a harrowing rape-murder and wrongful conviction in the modern American south.
Told from the point of view of the principal subjects - Mark Rabil, an unyielding defense attorney, Larry Little, a community leader, and Darryl Hunt, the wrongfully convicted man - the film offers an eye-opening, provocative and haunting examination of a community and criminal justice system subject to racial bias and tainted by fear.
More information on the film is here. Also, the film was shown at a conference last month co-sponsored by LDF. More information on the conference is here.
