AP posts, "2 executions scheduled in Mississippi," via WTVA-TV.
Mississippi authorities are preparing to execute two men this coming week.
One of them was an Eagle Scout and recent high school graduate when he was charged with sexually assaulting and killing a woman. The other is a habitual offender convicted of raping and beating a woman before running over her with his car.
Larry Matthew Puckett, the Eagle Scout, is 35 now. He's scheduled to die by lethal injection on Tuesday for the 1995 death of Rhonda Hatten Griffis of Forrest County.
William Mitchell, who is 61, is scheduled for execution on Thursday in the death of Patty Milliken, who was killed in Harrison County in 1995.
To date, there have been nine executions in the nation this year; a total of 1,286 post-Furman executions since 1977.
