"Inmate loses challenge to Miss. execution method," is the AP report by Jack Elliott Jr., via WJTV-TV.
A federal appeals panel has rejected a death row inmate's challenge to Mississippi's method of execution by lethal injection.Roger Thorson had appealed to the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals after a Mississippi federal judge dismissed his lawsuit against Corrections Commissioner Christopher Epps.
On Wednesday, a 5th Circuit three-judge panel rejected Thorson's claim.
The panel says much of Thorson's complaints about the protocol were speculation.
The panel says the state has shown that its method of execution and the procedure for administration of the lethal injections alleviate cruelty and reduce harm in capital punishment.
