"Parolee back in jail after allegedly violating parole," is the title of another Chronicle article today.
A former death row inmate is back in jail after allegedly violating his parole a second time.
Martin Allen Draughon has been in the Polk County Jail since his arrest last weekend at his Livingston home, but he denies he violated his parole, said Joy Weathers, his fiancee. She said the Global Positioning System monitor that tracks his movements malfunctioned.
He is scheduled to have a hearing on the alleged violation Jan 4. to determine whether his parole should be revoked and he should be returned to prison.
It sounds eerily similar to another arrest in September. Coverage of that event is here and here.
Activist Gloria Rubac sent an e-mail on the matter earlier this week reporting that Draughon's GPS monitor has repeatedly gone on the blink, that Draughon had reported this, and was told that he would be getting a new one.
