Rachel King, the author of two important books on the personal impact and consequences of capital punishment, died last night following a prolonged battle with breast cancer.
Don't Kill in Our Name: Families of Murder Victims Speak Out Against the Death Penalty and Capital Consequences: Families of the Condemned Tell Their Stories were both published by Rutgers University Press. Both books are still in print, available, and vital. They are her most lasting legacy, along with a family, her work with colleagues, and the law students she taught and mentored.
Rachel's family has asked that memorial donations be made in her name to the National Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty.
