Texas Execution

Texas carried out its 15th execution of 2008, last night in Huntsville.  It was be the 420th in the state since 1982.  Five more executions are scheduled in Texas this month; an additional seven are already scheduled in 2009.  TDCJ maintains this list of scheduled executions.

Texas has by far the most active death chamber in the United States accounting for more than 37% of all the executions in America. It was the 31st execution in America in 2008; the 1,130th in the nation since 1977.  Texas has carried out the last five executions in America.
