Texas is set to carry out its eighth execution of 2011, tonight in Huntsville. It would be the state's 472nd post-Furman execution since 1982.

Houston's KPFT-FM will host Execution Watch on the web and it's HD radio broadcast signal beginning at 6:00 p.m. (CDT), tonight.
To date, there have been 27 executions in the nation this year; 1,261 post-Furman executions since 1977. Arizona carried out its fourth execution of the year, yesterday.
According to TDCJ, seven additional executions are scheduled in Texas during the months of August and September. It's possible that state district courts will set more 2011 execution dates. Karl Keys at Capital Defense Weekly notes execution dates in Texas and other states.
